Munich... My Favor to Tawny
June 1st, 2010 Tuesday
We are nearing the end of our trip and I'm not that sad about it. Not that I've had a bad time, its just that it had been a very intense 2 weeks of running all around Europe. I'm exhausted and I miss a lot of things about America: my family, my boy, and things like efficiency of waiters in resturants! haha. Anyhoo, today we got up, I realized I left part of my bathroom things in Prague (not cool) and then we headed out to buy another toothbrush before heading off to another one of those "free" tours. The last one was so great, we figured it'd be a good idea again. It was pretty good. Our tour guide wasn't as funny, but it was still informative and we got to see a lot of the key places in the city. The first was the glockenspiel, which is basically another huge clock. It is apparently Europe's 2nd most dissapointing tourist attraction. What is the first you ask? Haha, well we saw it yesterday and it is in Prague. Its the astromonical clock. I didnt have expectations for either of them so I didnt see why they were so horrible.
We also saw the only church built... by Satan!!! DUN, DUN, DUN!!! There is a story that satan told the architect he would help him build it in 20 years if he promised not to put in anymore windows. The man agreed but there were already windows that wer there that Satan didn't see so when it was finished and he saw that he had been tricked he stomped his foot on the ground inside the church where the footprint still exsists. Cool, huh? The tour took us to many more places and we saw how rebuilt this city is because of the fact that it was bombed so heavily during World War II. After we finished we wondered around for a bit doing a little shopping and trying to find our way through the streets. We then headed to the Hofbrauhaus to get dinner and some beer. This is Munich's most famous beer hall. The beer was pretty good and I tried some of Tawny's sourkrat which was really tasty. I usually hate it so this is saying somehing. Yet again I was annoyed because I ordered a salad, didnt think it was commint until she finally brought it way after the meal. I didnt eat it but still had to pay of course. After that we headed back to the hostel where I am sitting right now waiting to for tonight for our train to Amsterdam to arrive. Here is hoping its an easy and smooth journey!
