You should hate me by now...
May 26, 2010 Wednesday
After yesterday I kind of decided I did not really like good ole Pari. The people are rude, the language barrier sucks, it smells, and the transportation is a lot to deal with. Today, however, I'm finding it not quite so bad. Its still not my favorite place, but I dont hat it AS much anymore. :) After checking out, grabbing our free breakfast, and storring our luggage, we set out to go see the Louvre. When we got there it still had not opened (I dont know why) so we had to wait in line for about an hour. The good thing though was that we bought a muesum pass for paris so we didnt have to wait in an even longer line for tickets. That line wrapped around the entire courtyard. When we were finally let in we tried making our way to the Mona Lisa. The easiest route was closed, though, so we had to walk around finding another way to it. That place is huge and just a little complicated to navigate. But every inch is just gorgeous. The hallways are just filled with amazing things. We rushed through most of it sadly. There was just so little time! We skipped a lot and really only looked at paintings from Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and France. I was trying to see if they had a painting by my favorite painter, but sadly i didnt see one if they did. Bummer. We didnt even have time to go to the information desk and ask them if they had one. Oh well.
The next place we headed was to see Notre Dame. You know what really sucked though? My battery started to give out at this point. I'll have to steal some from Tawny, but I did get a few from the rest of the day. Anyway, the church wa free so we went in and looked around. Its strange to say this, but I wasn't overly impressed. It seemec kinda small. Huh, I don't know why. Maybe because its just made out to be so huge. We didnt have time to go up the towers which wer pricey anyway so we pressed onto the next place....
Next stop was the Eiffel tower. Aren't you just hating me right now? lol! We had great fun trying to take pictures in front of it. Got lots of goofy ones that I hope turned out good. Then we went closer and decided to try to walk up the stairs. It cost 3.50 euros, but we probably should have paid extra for the elevator. Haha. We got to the first level. Oh well, we needed to burn all the carbs from the baugettes anyway! :) The view was amazing of course so didnt try to go higher. WE got a late lunch/early dinner there and ate it. How often can you say you have done that?? It was very cool!! But we needed to head back so we quickly left.
You know you would think we would have known how long it was going to take to get back, but we seriously misjugged. Oh boy, another run and a are we going to make it moment! Went back, grabbed our bags, and went to the train station. We got there about 5 minutes before it was supposed to leave. YIKES!! We found our train and quickly hopped aboard. In our car was a woman from I dont know where and two american girls from Nebraska that we got to talk to. Later on a French woman joined us and then we fell fast asleep on the train. Tomorrow, I awake in Italy!!
