Cursed!
Saturday March 10, 2007
So today started off nice enough… yeah, as the title suggests it hasn’t exactly ended that way. Rudy took his brother and me to the airport and I got on my plane to Cincinnati all well and fine. On my ride in the tram to my concourse, I started thinking about how dismayed I was one year ago on that same tram, coming back from England. I felt sure that my time there had forever come to an end. Hey! I know that sounds dramatic but come on, going back didn’t exactly seem likely. It’s not like its super cheap, especially with the rising exchange rates. But there I was, making my way to England. At the moment I am in Cincinnati and so the whole “I’m going to England” thing hasn’t really set in yet. Perhaps it will when I arrive. My flight here to Cincinnati was quite nice. I was kind of impressed with Delta. The plane was much roomier than United planes are and they give you an impressive little choice for your snack. So I walk off the plane and look up at the t.v. monitor to check for my next flight. There was one listing for London Gatwick and the departure time was listed for 11:00 pm. But that couldn’t be my flight could it? Mine was due to leave at 8:15 pm. The gate listed was different but the flight number was the same. So I went to the gate to get the news… yep, the 11:00pm flight was mine. It had been delayed 3 hours! I am really starting to think I am cursed when it comes to flying. My experiences just keep getting worse and worse. First it was a chronic loosing of my bags by the airlines, then I had that whole run in with the cancellation in Kentucky and was only saved by my awesome brothers from Marshall University, and now this! Because this flight is delayed I will miss my bus that was going to take me from the airport to Leicester. I tried calling the bus company but they had already closed. So I have to wait until I get into Gatwick to figure out how in the world I will be able to get to Leicester. Hopefully the bus people will put me on another bus and not charge me a freakishly high fee! *crosses fingers*! You know what… It could be this area! *GASP*!! Ooo! Ok hear me out- so when I arrived in the airport I walked by a store that was called Kentucky! My thoughts were, wait a minute we are in Ohio. Pff stupid people! Hehehe! But then it finally hit me Kentucky is just a river away. So that makes sense. And so that’s why I say maybe it’s this area, It’s Kentucky! It wants to keep me here! :P So after I calmed down enough I went in search of food. Of course by this time everything was closed down except for a chili place. Apparently its “Cincinnati’s finest”… um no. And while I was eating I just stared laughing; all the people that are on my London flight are eating… chili? Um… I’m thinking this isn’t a good idea! Oye! So after that nauseating meal, I returned back to my gate and started typing this up. When I first started typing the departure time was 11:00pm like I have said before, but then they made the announcement that our plane was coming from Atlanta and that it was going to be 11:59pm when we leave!! Oh but it gets even more super better! So as I continued to write (and really it hasn’t been that long) they made yet another announcement- they were cleaning the plane out in Atlanta and so its going to be 1:00am now!! AHHHH!!! *rips hair out!* So yeah… I am seriously starting to hate flying, but I am trying really hard right now to be in a positive mood. Trying… succeeding? Mmmm… somewhat. Oh, Oh, Wait, Wait! I was about to save this and shut down my laptop but they made ANOTHER announcement. Ok so here is the deal- the plane in Atlanta is having a fueling issue… uh, ok. So they need to fix that too and the plane “should” leave Atlanta by 10:30 and so I’m guessing we are still scheduled to leave about 1:00a.m. Ok that’s enough. I’m ending this before they make another announcement saying screw you all, we are cancelling this flight! And they don’t have enough room for all of us for tomorrow’s flight so… yeah… let’s hope I eventually make it to England!

I guess you could get a job as a Problem-solver for Delta seeing they have so many problems. It's funny how they call it "flying" when you spend your time waiting most of the time. That's why next time I have to "fly" somewhere, I"ll just say I'm Waiting until I get there.
Rudy
P.S. good to know you made it, finally. Are you pretty familiar with mechanical problems now? :p
3:40 PM
Glad you made it. Hope you actually didn't think I didn't care. What else could I do but pray? Anyway hope you have a great time. The weather here is awesome. Climbed up on the house and,....yeah!!! No more Christmas Lights. It's only March 13th!
