Back to Our Regularly Scheduled Program

Tuesday May 2, 2006

Well I am back in Leicester for the remainder of my time over here. Its crazy to think that in a few weeks I am going to see all you guys again. To say I am nervous about that would be an understatement. I keep thinking about how you guys will have all have changed and think- what if I have as well? What if I don’t fit back into your lives and am I silly to think that I will? Well I do know one thing for certain- when I come back I am going to be emotional like no other. So I am just giving everyone a heads up that I might act a bit wonky for a week or so. Ok so… Leicester. Right. Well Monday I didn’t do anything to fabulously interesting so I will just cover yesterday in this entry. Tuesday was spent doing some more pot… Roman pots that is! Hehehe! The three of us working on this project were able to all get together and do more work. The two people that are in my group are Ali and Simon. They are both great fun to work with and I am glad that I got put into their group. So we attempted to get down to business. Ali got the Samian-ware, Simon got BB1 rims, and I got BB1 body shards. What we had to do was go through all of our shards and date them. I had a helluva a time trying to do this though because with BB1 body shards you have to look at the lattice pattern on them and decided on a date. Well in all honesty they all just look like a bunch of lines to me! : ) So we joked around that yes, that was because they are in fact “ass-ware”. Those Romans were really inconsiderate to the people hundreds of years later that have to try to categorize their pottery. “Bloody Romans!” Hehehe! We came to a point where our brains wouldn’t work anymore so of course that meant- cuppa tea! Well coffee for me that is. We went over to the main building on campus and sat and chatted for quite a bit. We came back about a half an hour later and trying to get working again. It still wasn’t going to well for me so Simon and I went down to try and ask our Proffessor what to do. He wasn’t there but we did find someone to help. She told us to try not to be so accurate and just separate them all into early, middle, and late periods. Hmmm well I wish I had know that like 3 hours before! So we came back and I divided them all up yet again into different piles. Early, early-middlish, middlish, and late. Hey those are scientific names! LOL! Well its better then some of our other piles of pottery. : ) After that was done we packed up and headed out. Looking back we really didn’t get much done so that sucks but we had a blast hanging out so that was something! Hehehe. On the way back I stopped off at ASDA with two other study abroad students and we all bought some groceries. I’m all stocked up for the week! And that was pretty much it for yesterday. Now I really really need to get my but in gear and work on my bones project. Wish me luck!

ROFL! I like the ages you divided your pot into. Te hehe, I know what kind of pot is was, but it's funny.

Any way it sounds like you have been quite the little traveler. I'm sorry that Whales was so akward. But I'm glad you did like it in a sense. But it sounds like Ireland was the best thus far.

Ok, apparently the UK loves their Manaquins. Which is creepy on sooo many levels, Freaud would have a field day with that one.

Te he 2 more weeks! :D
