Good Things?
I had my Roman Ceramics class today. It was quite funny because not many people showed up. We were guessing it was either because of the strangely nice weather or the fact that everyone’s dissertation is coming up due soon. But the good thing is that classes are now more of the practical sort. We are working with our assemblages and sorting them all out. Oh that was interesting. The other girl in my group and me just kinda sat there for a while staring at all our pottery. : ) We were baffled as to where to start. “Do you think this is Black Burnished Ware 1 or maybe it’s 2… or maybe its ‘naughty’ Black Burnished Ware?” Yeah, our teacher has some weird terms for some of the pottery. It’s not actually called naughty BB ware. I personally like his ‘lumpy bumpy’ ware that’s actually called Savernake Ware. It’s pretty entertaining though! It is also really cool to know that my professor is an expert in his field where there aren’t many. Talk about your credentials. Anyhoo, the two of us finally got around to remembering what we were doing and started sorting through it all. It’s nice to know that we will have class time from now on to work on our project- cause its gonna need a lot of time! Wow the time is really flying by! I can’t seem to get my head around the idea of me being in Rome in just a few short weeks. Wow. Oh but want to hear something really crummy? The Paris trip for the 3rd week was cancelled. Not enough people signed up apparently. So tomorrow I’ve got to go and get my money back from them in the office. But! This could actually be a good thing! I found a trip to Paris through the travel agency that is the same week, for the same amount of days, and that is even including Versailles! And its even a little cheaper too! I know another American girl is doing this as well, so at least I will know someone else going as well. So I think this is for the best, but I’ll know tomorrow when I go to campus to get this mess straightened out. Hmm what to do for the did ya know today… well… Did ya know that “blackcurrant” is very popular here? I guess it’s just like some kind of berry, like black berry or something, but I see it everywhere. I have some Blackcurrant cereal bars, the girl in my class had some Blackcurrant juice today, and an American girl in my hall had some Blackcurrant tea… so I’m going out on a limb and saying it’s a popular British flavor. You know… this is completely random, but I just feel like sharing my thoughts. I find it amazing observing people sometimes and how the act around others. Tonight I was sitting at dinner with another American girl when one of her British friends came to sit with us. He sat in the chair next to me and I swear not once did the guy look at me! He didn’t even acknowledge the presence of another person. I find it completely fascinating how many people do this. I’ve had it happen quite a lot to me, especially while I’ve been here. I find this practice all too incredibly weird to be honest, but then again maybe it’s just me that inspires people to treat me as if I am invisible. : ) I do wonder sometimes though what makes people so incredibly rude to others. Well it does make things rather amusing to me though! : P *rolls eyes* People can be so stuck on themselves sometimes! Anyhoo… I’m sure I put you all to sleep quite a while back so I do believe its time to end this entry! Night!

You will have to tell me if it is the same thing as the wild currant berries that grow by the stream by the old ranch at Walden. I will bring some back some time.
